Berkeley, California

Ken Kay Associates created this one-acre, permanent, outdoor exhibit, as realistic replica of San Francisco Bay called Forces That Shape the San Francisco Bay, at the Lawrence Hall of Science, UC Berkeley.

Located above the Bay with spectacular views, the hands-on outdoor exhibit allows visitors to ride earthquake simulators, set erosion and tectonic plates in motion, build mountains, and control water flow through a large waterfall. More than 1,000 children enjoy this exhibit daily. Completed in 2003, the $2.5 million project renews an underused section of campus while taking advantage of the site’s unique setting.
