Science Center at Oyster Point
South San Francisco, California
Once known as the Gateway Business Park, Ken Kay Associates were the master planners for Elan Corp. to become a model second-generation biotech workplace. Owned by Chamberlin Associates, the master plan for 22-acre site replaces six existing low-scale buildings with six larger energy- efficient buildings, structured parking, and a large open space in the center of the campus.
Formerly surrounded by parking lots, the buildings will be surrounded by a sea of natural grasses. Parking will be relocated in garages at the back of the property. The buildings will be environmentally sustainable, with clean energy provided by rooftop wind and solar panels, and a water-conserving landscape with permeable paving. |
